The Bennet’s house from BBC’s “Pride and Prejudice” is on the market with a big discount

by Verus Real Estate

If you have ever dreamed about living like Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice, here is your chance. This Luckington Court estate served as the Bennet family house in the BBC’s 1995 adaption of the classic novel. Now, it has appeared on the market, asking £6 million ($7.3 million).

This property has a fascinating history that dates back to the 11th century. According to the listing, the site of a manor has a potential royal connection. It was originally owned by King Harold II, before he was killed in the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The historic English country estate comes with a primary residence, five cottages, multiple farm buildings, and nearly 20 acres of permanent grassland.

The future owner is invited to enjoy nearly 10,000 square feet of living space, with 8 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, and beautiful views of the River Avon. The mansion has a reception hall, a dining room with a separate study, a large drawing room, and a music room with access to the garden. You can also find a beautiful fireplace in nearly all of these rooms.

In addition to the main residence, there are also 5 cottages with their own gardens and a 17th-century dovecote (a structure designed for housing pigeons or doves). The listing says that this real-life Bennet family residence “provides not only a wonderful home and place to live but also a profitable Estate, with expanded farming, residential and commercial income streams.”

“Rarely does a property of this quality and in such a sought-after location come up for sale,” Woolley & Wallis partner Richard Nocton told Mansion Global. “Its excellent condition, additional accommodation and manageable land will provide the buyer with not only a desirable estate but a country lifestyle in a rural community and yet, close to the amenities of Cirencester, Bath, Bristol and easy connections to London.”

This is not the first time the Luckington Court estate has entered the market. In 2017, this property was listed for sale for the first time in 70 years, with an asking price of £9 million ($11.7 million). Now, the home is available through Woolley & Wallis.
