Live music returns to NYC storefronts
New Yorkers have a chance to enjoy live music concerts while passing the street.
Musical storefronts are returning to the city. Concerts will take place several days a week, from February 3 to March 17, 2022. Performances will feature different genres of music ranging from classical, jazz, and the Great American Songbook to R&B and Gospel.
Last year, Kaufman Music Center successfully launched free pop-up concerts to help artists who could not perform due to pandemic restrictions. The name of the event speaks for itself. Musicians perform behind storefront windows on NYC’s Upper West Side.
In 2021, when many musical institutions were prohibited from hosting indoor events, musical storefronts provided employment to more than 200 artists, according to the Kaufman Music Center website.
“Performing in the storefront is quite fun,” said concert violinist and 2022 Musical Storefronts performer Melissa White in a tweet. “The audience can come and go, and we can take risks with new musical ideas in each set.”
All performers follow the COVID safety measures, and the music plays through amplified sound systems.
You can find the program announcements on the Kaufman Music Center website and social media channels. Live performances will be hosted at 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, and 4, 5, and 6 pm.
