Seattle-based startup to open hotels with the Metaverse component
The metaverse is a new buzzword that seems to take over social media and news outlets. The definition of the metaverse can vary depending on the source. However, generally speaking, it is a digital world with virtual reality components that invite users to hang out and build relationships online.
The metaverse is getting more popular by the minute and attracting major companies. Tech giants, such as Google, Shopify, and Meta (formerly Facebook) already invested in the metaverse. Some companies go as far as buying a piece of digital land in a virtual world, and the hospitality industry is no exception.
Roomza Hotels bring together digital and physical. The startup is building two-story hotels that only have rooms for guests. There are no front desks, plastic keys, and check-in and check-out lines. The hospitality company invites guests to meet and attend social events online in the metaverse.
“Roomza Hotels are designed to meet the demands of travelers who want the consistency of a major hotel brand but with the flexibility of bed-and-breakfast booking platforms,” Roomza spokesperson Jake Fleming told Hospitality Technology.
“At Roomza, everything is different. We’re building a workforce where diversity is celebrated and at the same time, have removed every point of friction in the guest experience from the front desk to restrictive check-in times causing less stress and unpleasant interactions for our employees. What we’re creating is the future of the hotel industry, and we’re just getting started.”
Roomza is not the first hospitality company that entered the metaverse. Earlier, CitizenM announced plans to build the first hotel in The Sandbox gaming world. Roomza has gone one step further by creating its own metaverse called Roomzaverse.
Guests can check-in using the Roomza app and unlock the suite door by using their phone as a key. They can also select and personalize their room prior to arriving. The company expects to start welcoming travelers in 2023.
