TIME collaborates with The Sandbox to open ‘Time Square’ in the Metaverse

The virtual gaming world, The Sandbox, and TIMEPieces, the NFT community initiative from TIME magazine, announced a partnership that involves the famous New York City landmark. This would be the first-ever TIME destination in the metaverse. 

According to The Sandbox blog post, TIME Square is “inspired by the visual spirit and energy of the iconic neighborhood in New York City.” Currently, the project is looking for architects who would build TIME Square on a piece of virtual land that the magazine bought in the metaverse. 

“Our goal is to create a destination that will be the heart of the metaverse,” said Keith A. Grossman, TIME President. “Since launching TIMEPieces in September 2021, we have focused on developing a community in Web3 that benefited from the incredible 100-year legacy and access TIME has established.”

TIME Square will serve as a virtual hub for TIMEPieces holders. The all-inclusive digital space will host discussion groups, events, screenings of TIME Studios projects, and educational experiences.
