Taylor Swift’s “Cornelia Street” townhouse appears on the rental market

by Verus Real Estate

This West Village carriage house was once home to the 11th-time Grammy winner, Taylor Swift. Now, Swifties have a chance to live in the former home of their favorite pop star. The iconic property, which inspired the song Cornelia Street, hit the rental market for $45,000 a month.

It is no surprise that this Manhattan pad became a muse of Taylor Swift. Originally built as a carriage house in the 1870s, this property is now a gorgeous modern home with four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a total of 5,500 square feet of living space. According to People magazine, the pop superstar rented this house in 2016 while renovating her Tribeca home.

The Cornelia Street rental spans three floors. The first floor has a 30-foot-long indoor swimming pool, a guest lounge, and an exterior patio. On the second floor, you will find a living room with beamed ceilings, wood floors, and glass windows. This level also includes an elegant kitchen, a dining area with views of the West Village, and a guest bedroom, which is currently staged as a home office.

The upstairs area has two spacious bedroom suites, each with its own walk-in closets and private terrace. In addition, there is also a rooftop terrace that provides the new tenant with stunning New York City views. The famous property sits minutes away from some of the city’s best restaurants and boutiques.

The song Cornelia Street appeared on Swift's seventh studio album, Lover. She sings, “I rent a place on Cornelia Street, I say casually in the car". The former owner of the Manhattan carriage house, Soho House executive David Aldea, recalled the first time he met Taylor Swift in an interview with Vulture.

"She walked in, and I'll never forget this — she said, 'Oooh, it's so crafty,'" Aldea said. "And in Taylor-speak, that means 'I like everything.' She asked if she could rent not just the house but my style as well. So towels and dishes and glassware and furniture and just kind of 'Take your clothes and go.' So I did. She was an absolute delight to deal with."
